Big Yet Still Beautiful

People scoff at me for my size.

I’ve always tried to ignore these people.

As I have aged it has gotten easier

I realize

I’ll never walk the runway.

Or wear a skimpy bikini.

I ask myself if this is important

In my life

Of course not!

I’ll always be a woman

With my own spirit

As well as drive

People will know me

For the beauty inside

The outside will be secondary

And I know

I can always lose the weight

While staying true to me

There’s nothing more appealing

Than living your life

On your own terms

Refusing to get stuck

In the notion

You have to be a certain size

Or look a certain way

So today I whispered this to myself

And I have come to believe

My own words

Big yet still beautiful!
