The Fallen

A soldier had fallen

One dark and melancholy day

On a battlefield

Life had been taken away

A battle fought hard

Often in a foreign land

A trail called Ho Chi Min

One spot in the desert sand

Dunes on the beaches of Normandy

A battle called the Bulge

Fought in Italy

Our country called your name

And you gave it your all

It way your duty

When you heard America’s call

Tears flowed freely

One had left the ranks

America remembers your legacy

Gives you our whole hearted thanks

The fallen have left

And shall not return

We celebrate your life

Because the glories of freedom still burn
