To Snack or Not to Snack

To snack or not to snack that is the question.

After a long day I feel tempted to pull out a savory or decadent snack.

Crispy and salty potato chips.

A gooey chocolate brownie.

Cold and creamy ice cream.

To name a few of my foes.

Yet I head toward the refrigerator and cupboards to try my best to pick a healthy snack.

Fresh fruit or vegetables.

Crunchy rice cakes

Or a couple almonds

A daunting task for me!

What are some of your healthy and filling snack ideas?

  1. Have you tried PB2? It’s a powdered peanut butter that’s had the fat removed. You can add water to it to create a low cal peanut butter, but I like to blend 1 tablespoon of it with a banana, a cup of unsweetened almond milk and a cup of ice. It makes a really yummy smoothie for about 150 calories. I also like airpopped popcorn, and hummus and carrots or celery.

  2. You can try zucchini chips, or avocado chocolate pudding, or blend frozen coconut milk or bananas with fresh fruit for a cooling sorbet. All you have to do is find a way to satisfy the craving you have using something healthier. I’ve got a ton of ideas!
